Each week church building doors are unlocked and opened for people to come in and worship the One True Living God. Unfortunately, many people come to a worship service with the wrong motives or reasons. Others become disgruntled if the worship service is not to their liking. We have made worship about us rather than worshipping God. Romans 1:25 says, “For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”
So why the unusual name Guy Wire? The vision behind Guy Wire Ministries is similar to towers, whether a radio, cell, or any other tower, can be seen from miles away, pointing straight and tall into the heavens. What cannot be seen are these tiny guy wires that are holding that tower in place.
As a minister and preacher of the gospel, I do not want the attention to be on me. I do not want to receive praise, nor do I want a worship service to be about anything other than God. My desire is to be like one of those guy wires. I want to keep the audience focused on God and looking directly to Him. Like a tower pointing into the heavens, the audience should keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
